News » I’m leaving Patreon.

Hey everyone!

In short; It came to my attention that Patreon practices some really shady policies (in my opinion), and upon educating myself on the matter, I concluded that Patreon’s behaviour is not something I’d like RandoWis and this community to be a part of, hence my decision to leave.

I’m currently looking for an alternative, but it the meantime, I’ll work on RandoWis at my own pace. Once I’ve settled down on a new place, I’ll make another update to this situation via a YouTube video (maybe). For now, I kindly ask for your patience once more.

It took a little time and research, but I explain my findings, explanations, and opinions in this post here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/my-decision-39695763

Be warned that it’s a REALLY long post, but if you choose to read it, then I thank you for sparing the time.

Love you much much, and I’ll see you again in the next post. ♥

  1. That’s alright rando. Just let us know where you post next. I still wanna support Homie

  2. A bunch of people have already suggested options, so I might as well add this one to the pile to make sure you have options.

  3. I found you through a mutual’s Tumblr post from a year ago, and right here, right now, you are giving me so much LIFE and it’s everything I needed to get through some hard times. Bless you you beautiful soul, and your god-tier facial expressions.

  4. You already have this wonderful website. Surely it can’t be that hard to set something up to accept payments here.

  5. Many content creators had switched already from patreon to subscribestar like others have mentioned in the comments. Been a fan for a long time Rando. Take some vacation and recuperate mentally. Don’t give up!

  6. As RayoGundead suggested, SubscribeStar is a good alternative.

I completely endorse this decision; Patreon kicked some of my favourite YouTubers off the platform a while back for things they did outside of Patreon.
It seems like Patreon see themselves as the source of funding for users, and not like a payment gateway.
Personally I find it disgusting, and it’s awful for me because I was a big fan of Jack Conte at the time when he founded Patreon, and it feels like their current perspective is a corruption of what the initial concept was. (A platform for fans to support creators)
